IRVINE, Calif. – New for 2012 Tackle Year – Going back to when first introduced in 1995, Shimano’s Citica baitcasting have provided anglers with solid, fish-catching performance and reliability. And now, the Citica series starts a new life with the introduction of Citica 200G7, 200G6 and left-hand retrieve 201G6, and 200G5. Identical in size and features, the reels differentiate themselves with their gear ratios, allowing Shimano to provide the right Citica at the right speed for every possible bass fishing technique.
Anglers will instantly notice proven Shimano features on all four Citica reels. “We offer our High Efficiency Gearing (HEG) to provide more leverage and to produce more fish moving power,” said Kenichi Iida, reel product specialist for Shimano American Corp., “plus we reduce weight with our Lo-Mass drilled spool system so anglers can experience longer casts through a wide range of lure weight, and we provide easy spool control adjustments with our Variable Brake System. Anglers can now look to the Citica reels for the right one for their type of fishing.”
With a 7.1:1 gear ratio, the CI-200G7 retrieves in 30-inches of line per crank. The CI-200G6 and 201G6, each with 6.5:1 gear ratios, crank in 27-inches per handle revolution, while the CU-200G5 pulls in 23-inches of line per crank with a 5.5:1 gear ratio. Each Citica can handle 155 yards of 10-pound test mono, or 120 yards of 50-pound PowerPro braid.
Contributing to reel smoothness, Shimano uses three SUS ball bearings at key stress points, and an A-RB roller bearing to eliminate any handle backplay. All four reels have 11-pounds of maximum drag, and each weighs in at 7.5-ounces.
At Shimano, our goal is always to make tackle that any of us here would be thrilled to fish with,” Iida said. “Fishing is what we’re all about, and any bass angler – or for those looking for a solid, low-profile baitcaster for inshore saltwater action – can have all the confidence in the world that our Citica reels will perform at and above their expectations.”
